Endowments
JAHSENA is grateful to be the beneficiary of several endowments held at the Edmonton Community Foundation through the Edmonton Jewish Community Charitable Foundation. Donating Archival Records
The breadth and accuracy of archives as a historic resource relies on members of the public donating their records. Donating your records enables
us to provide a richer, more accurate reflection of our shared past. Donated materials will be preserved with care and made accessible to
researchers, educators, and your descendants. Charitable tax receipts will not be issued for donated archival materials.

What Types of Records are the Archives Looking For?
Personal Records of Individuals
Any material that an individual has created, used or received during their lifetime. These materials provide insight into the interests, occupations and life of an individual which contributes to knowledge about our community. This includes:
- Correspondence
- Diaries
- Scrapbooks
- Drawings
- Photographs
- Films
- Audio and Video Tapes
- Organizational Membership Materials
- Business Records
Corporate or Organizational Records
Operational records document the core functions of a business: its essential activities, decisions, legal obligations and responsibilities, such as policies and procedures, minutes, legal agreements, newsletters, records of assets.
If privacy is a concern, the donor of materials may set access restrictions to anything of a sensitive nature. For these types of records, the Archives prefers to restrict the records for a period of time rather than permanently.
How Does Donation of Materials Work?
The donor is asked to gift the material to the archives by signing a Certificate of Gift. Once materials are donated, they become the legal and physical property of the archives for use by researchers.

Library Donations
Due to our current temporary location, JAHSENA’s library will not be accepting book donations at this time. We kindly ask that you hold onto any potential donations until we’ve moved into a more permanent space, in approximately September, 2027.
However, we welcome and encourage you to reach out to us regarding any items you wish to donate. We will gladly follow up once we are able to accept them.
